    Long distance sync?

    Hey all,
Is there a way to set up the central "in the cloud" or something so multiple people can sync from various locations at the same time?

Hawaii office -> Central file "in the cloud" <- Oregon office

Collaboration for Revit (C4R). Not free but extremely reasonable. We use it on a project with detailers in CA (me) WA, TX, and MN. Check out the Worksharing, Revit Server, and C4R forum for lots of posts about C4R

Edit: oh, and if you'll pay my way to HI I'll set it up for you

+1 on this. I've used it across teams with long distances between, and huge models, and performance works as you would expect.

Only caveat is a C4R license to access the model is per user. Ten people needing to access the model at once means ten licenses of C4R. You can also get away with a "floating license" with a common login that is shared among team members.

Don't use a "common" login, as this will cause workset issues, as the C4R login ID will be used as the Workset User ID. Instead, you can have a license that can easily be switched between actual user names by your account administrator.

You definitely want your C4R licenses assigned to your actual user names.

And in my opinion (which you can take for what its worth since i work for Autodesk :-) ) C4R is worth the 38.5 cents (US) per hour per user (based on a 40 hour work week and a year subscription to C4R)

C4R or Revit Server with Clarity. I'm sure there are other cloud based solutions out there just never used them.

Good to know Scott. I personally don't utilize a "Common ID" but I know of a couple of companies that does. For instance, one company has two common ID logins to C4R and about 3 guys actually use it... not at once, obviously, but on occasion as they need to.

I'll begin recommending this to companies that I consult for.

Trust me, I know the benefits. Considering the IT costs to get the same thing, I will take the $800/yr option any day over what alternatives are out there.

Oh my lol...for the sanity of these 3 people, tell the company to spend the $800 and get another license! :-)

How do they use the BIM 360 Team Project Hub that they get with C4R with the "common" logins? The "Model Compare" tool alone in Team is worth it!!

Have IT forward e-mails from that C4R account to the folks that are using that login....that way one of the three knows when they need to pay attention to the Hub... simple! :hide:
