    Converting a Roof to Conceptual Mass

    I'm trying to create a conceptual mass of my site context.

    When I created the model I drew the context as walls and roofs but I'm now looking to play with energy analysis so I need it as a conceptual mass, however, I can't seem to figure out how to do it and drawing the mass from scratch just doesn't seem to be working because of the complexity of the form (with multiple voids).

    As I already have the geometry as a floor, is there any way to convert that floor into a conceptual mass that I can then increase the height of?

    I've tried searching for answers already but I only ever find solutions for the reverse - creating a floor from a mass.

    Based on what you show, that would be very simple in the conceptual massing tool. You say it has a lot of void and detail, the image you show doesn't represent what I would consider a lot of detail. Can you provide details of errors you get when trying to create a mass?

      I found the best solution to be a Dynamo script to select the face of the roof, extrude it with Surface.Thicken and then use Springs.FamilyInstance.ByGeometry (from the Spring Nodes package) to create the Dynamo geometry as a mass in Revit.
      The main problem I had was Springs doesn't accept the file path input for familyTemplatePath, you need to replace all "%20" with " " for it to work.
