Levels Not Available In View Range

I've inherited some MEP models. I'm trying to set up a plan view that has a range of several levels, i.e. the associated level is Roof 1 and I want the range to go up to Roof 3 with an offset. I did it successfully in one of the models but in another only the level above and unlimited are available for the top. I've compared several properties in both of the models and even created a new view but still no joy.

Further investigation reveals that for the lower levels, the available levels above stop at Roof 1.

Why would all of the levels above not be available in the view range?

is it an imported/linked model?

Make sure levels and grids are set to shared (in the linked model) and reload

The levels were copy/monitored and I'm assuming were all done at the same time with the same settings.

Then it is likely they are not set to shared, fairly common problem, very easy to fix.
Open your linked model, and click on the levels and modify type, and set them to shared

Copy monitored you say? Were they deleted from the linked model? It may be that they got removed with the monitor option and someone accepted the removal?

My first point of call if I were you, would be checking to make sure grids and levels are set to shared. They may also have been created in a different workset, so check that too and set them into the "grids and levels" workset, if that was enabled for that project.

I thought you were on to something but then I rechecked the model that it did work in and even though the top of the one view range still referred to Roof 3. It wasn't available in other views. So, I tried creating another plan for Roof 3, for which there wasn't one in the model, and low and behold. it was now available in the view range.

Lesson learned: If you need to have the level available for view range, a plan for that level needs to be present.

No it doesn't. That is why I had trouble getting my head around it. I had created a view using Roof 3 as the top of the view range and then subsequently deleted the plan view for Roof 3. The choice was no longer available for new views but the view that I had set using Roof 3 retained that setting. Once I changed it from Roof 3, that level was no longer available.
