"pin" two objects together/Associate them without creating a group

Is there a way to pin or associate two objects with one another without having to group them? I want them to be able to move together as well. Again, without grouping them.

You need to create some relationship between the two. The simplest way for instance, would be to lock them to the same ref plane, so that when you move that ref. plane the elements will move with it.

What's the problem with grouping them?

Could put them into a "holder" family. and then load the family into the project. I would probably go with a group over nesting them into a "holder" family though.
