    Locking Worksets visibility

    Hi all,

Is there a way to lock the visibility of a Workset? I know a Workset can be locked for editing.

More specific, is there a way to lock the 'hiding of certain Workset' in the project so, because of me being the owner, it won't appear and can't be made visible by a third party opening the project as a local file?

I don't think so, but do hope so.

    Kind regards,
    Maarten

    Yeah, no.

Why are you trying to hide elements on a workset?

I'm not trying to hide elements on a workset. I'm trying to hide a full workset (or more full worksets), so an external company can't see that specific workset. That's in the case of an external company modelling a piece of the project in a local file and having the possibility to synchronize with the same central file as i. Other than locking the workset for editing so the external company can't do anything with that workset (which is possible of course), i don't want them to see it.

No, Revit is not a security guard. Worksets aren't configured that way either. It's more like a librarian, just managing which books are loaned out to readers. Revit also only manages elements (books) that already exist in the model. Any user can create a new element and assign it to any workset (bookshelf) they want to, regardless if that workset is already checked out to someone else.

What practical relationship can be established working with a firm that can't be allowed to see the work you've done? If you are dealing with security issues then that work needs to be in an entirely separate model so it can be withheld from the scope of work you do allow the other firm to see. Worksets are not your answer.

A reason to use reference files. Simply save this workset as stand alone rvt. on your local company network..
Don't forget to give it the appropriate name ..'Secret stuff.rvt' ;-)
