    Typical Information

    Hi All,

We are working on a large institutional building which is in DA / Presentation pahse.
We want to create some typical room layouts.
My question is this. Is it better/easier to do these layouts in the same file as the project, or create them in a new file so we can use them on other projects?

If we were to do tham as separate file, what would be the process of using them on new projects?

    All help appreciated.

    Hi Andrew,

It depends on what is going to be most efficient. If you are in fact using those exact same rooms in other project files and all the details are the same then it makes sense to have them as external files that are linked in or external groups. Which you can then document isolated in their own files. If not, then there is nothing wrong with doing it in the main project file. Let Revit do the repetitive tasks for you! You shouldn't have to do the same thing more than once, if you do then there is probably a better way...

      Thanks Chris,
Can you tell me how you guys deal with room data sheets and having that info in Revit and Schedulable?
I have been thinking of using Key Schedules to self populate the room schedule? Thoughts?
We will need to like this with codebook at some stage as well.
