    Concrete volume above metal deck

It's great that you can 'bound layer above' with a structural deck, but the volume takeoff of the layer above doesn't subtract out the deck flutes for you. What's the best practice for automating a correct takeoff with the area below the deck flutes excluded?

I would use a formula to take out the conc below the deck. Do a little math to find the magic number then its a simple

Total Conc Volume * % = Volume with deck removed.

Yes, but that percentage would change based on the thickness of the slab. It seems to me that it would be easier to subtract a number from the thickness of the slab then multiply by the area. That way one deck profile = only one number to deal with. Has anyone taken the time to modify the OOTB deck profile to parametrically calculate what number you should subtract from the thickness of the slab?

Anyway it works for you. But the solution for your problem will be useing a calculated formula in the schedule will get you what you are looking for.
