    Installation Error

    Hi everyone

First of all, I'm sorry if the topic is irrelevant to this category and if it belongs anywhere may the admins move it please.

Now, back to the subject. I had to format my computer and I installed a fresh Revit 2014, so I installed the program and everything was fine, I also managed to work a bit last night. This tonight I opened Revit again and I was receiving a message about expired license, etc.

So I uninstalled Revit (got few errors during uninstallation and I had to use a third party uninstaller) and now during installation I'm getting two errors and the installation is automatically cancelled. I've attached the two images and the last few line of the log file. If the whole log file is required just let me know.

So after reading the log file, I though the error would be solved by installing DirectX, I did download the final version and install it but I got the same error again.

Did you already try uninstalling Visual C++? Because you probably did all your Winupdates first, a newer version was probably installed.

Just tried it now. I'm getting exactly the same two error messages and the installation then stops.

I've found the solution. I deleted the "Autodesk" folder in C:\Program Data and the installation worked properly.

            Hi gpktm,

Glad you got this sorted. I had problems over the past few day installing BDSP 2016. Whilst my problem was similar (was affected by the 2016 version of 360 hanging around preventing AutoCAD 2016 being installed) the solution was similar to yours.

Here is an Autodesk KB article to help clear out previous installations.
Be aware that this guidance overs ALL Autodesk programs, but it is easy to reinterpret this for any particular Autodesk product if only one is giving you an issue.

Sorry I didn't get to you quicker with this, might have saved you some time.

No worries mate. That would be helpful for anyone who has the same problem in the future.

I made sure I did the same thing when I reinstalled Revit on my machine....
