    "Working" View Reference

For Elevations and Sections, we created "Working" Tags that point to a View which will never go on a Sheet.
For example, our "Working Section" Tag uses the View Name.
I'd like to do the same for View References, but apparently, the only parameters available to View References are Detail Number and Sheet Name

Am I missing something, or is this a missing feature from the View Reference family?

I use types to denote all our working views so for plans, sections, and elevations working types of those views all start with "working_". You could do the same thing by creating a working view reference type.

That's exactly what I'm trying to do.
But "View Name" can't be used as a Label in a View Reference family.
Which means you can only use a View Reference to point to a View that has been place on a Sheet

Ah...well...that is a more difficult task. Serves me right for thinking I was going to solve a problem on a Friday afternoon.

Is the goal just to have a way to have "working" callouts? I did this by using Types for filters as Rob says, and addressing it with Section Elevation and Plan callouts. Never ran into a need for a View Reference as well. But some of what can now be done with View References is pretty cool (I have callouts for Section Axon's, for example) where it could make sense. It would be nice if View Reference became first class callouts rather than a kludge limited by Autodesk's imagination as to what they could/should/would get used for.

Actually, I was setting up some internal documentation, and I thought it would be useful to indicated where I had 3D Views created so people could jump right to a 3D to better explain how the item was constructed.
Alas, I couldn't select the 3D View (using a View Reference) unless the 3D View was also on a Sheet.

Funny that I just so happened to be trying to do something very similar today.....

I want to be able to add an instance based note annotation to my sections, details, and view ref. callouts so I can customize a note that appears next to my callout (not having to create a new type of callout) because a lot of times my note will read 'TYP @ LVLS 2-8 @ WEST ELEV.' and then another one that reads 'TYP @ LVLS 2-8 @ East ELEV.' etc.
              Regards,

That is not possible to my knowledge, although I believe many have tried.

I know it's not possible but.... WHY NOT???? seems like a pretty easy option to add doesn't it???

is this what you are looking for: http://www.revitforum.org/structure-...dded-text.html

I haven't tried it personally and don't know if it still works but I figure it is worth a shot.
