Since rooms are strictly phase specific there is no room info to display in a new phase unless you've created a new room in that phase. Copy/pasting (aligned/same place/etc) will bring the room number and name info across phases.

Correct, tags will not copy, but you can retag an entire floor plan in one click. The room should copy into the new phase if you copy it into a view with the correct phase settings.

unverified: duplicate view of previous phase, filter anything but room tags (if necessary change all tags in this view to numbers only) and use as underlay in view of next phase.
There must be a better way...

What about creating shared parameters within the Project that you can then use to create view filters from. Then you have complete control over the visibility as well as you do not have to recopy elements. I am going to try this method and I will post back with my success or failure.

Sorry, won't work. Filters cannot override Phase settings. Ekkonaps solution is the only solution to create a SHEET with room tags from previous phase. Not possible in the same view though.
As for the tags: they will copy if selected. They will just find a room in the new phase to reference and not keep their original values.

It does work. I just use the new Phase project parameter, ally it to all elements and completely disregard the Revit Phasing all together. I can then set up view filters and control everything from line weight to color and visibility. This is much better in my opinion.
Well, I'm glad you got it solved for this project. But frankly, it's not a valid solution in the long run. What if you need to demolish a wall and pull two rooms together? What if you have to split up a room in separate rooms? What if...
Simply cannot be done in one phase...

Ditto...works well, been using it since well...a long time. Wrote a post about it in August 2008.
What is the best way to approach room tags when you have existing and new phases. I thought that tags were linked to the phase the room was created, but...
I posted a few days ago about some frustrations I was having with the Rooms and phasing of Revit. Well, turns out a simple change of my thought process...
I've got a project with multiple phases. The individual phases don't have a lot of overlap within the building, but I'm trying to keep a single set of...
