Just been rebuilding my door families from scratch. Thought I had finished but when I load into project I get no active dimensions when I select the door. I do get the "active dimension" button which gives me a "one time" active dimensions.
Never had this problem with any other families I have built.
What am I missing ? :banghead:
Mark I get an "Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator" error report when clicking on the link
Sorry Martijin just deleted post, I want to have another look at this tonight before I repost.
I modeled these doors from scratch the way Aaron did his in his "doors for download post" and have noticed his doors do the same when loaded, no active dimensions.
I have also noticed Klaus's "Double Door" beta test also does not have "active dimensions" when loaded. We have all modeled in the same way.

I believe it´s due to the massive amount of ref. planes we use.
When we place the doors, Revit simply gives up when trying to figure where to place the "active/temp dimensions" - A bit strange, since it do know where to dimension from when you hit [Activate Dimension]
Did try to use "not a reference" on most of the ref. planes, hoping that it would solve the issue... Guess not! :banghead:
I have encountered the same error on a couple of families over the time.. Never got to figure out exactly what the problem was - This is indeed very strange..
However I did a quick dirty test with Klaus' theory about the ref.planes. I started with a OOTB door, made 300 ref.planes and loaded it to a empty project, the active dimensions worked like a charm. Then I made a gen.component with some geometry and 300 ref.planes, and nested it twice in the OOTB door mentioned earlier. This however did not affect the active dimensions - Strange..
So my best guess is that the combination of a lot of ref.planes a ridiculous amount of formulas and driven geometry, may be the trigger to all of this..
A side note: When deleting all the nested families from Klaus' doubledoors the active dimensions is back on again.
Update
Did some more digging, and it seems like the nested shared components it making all the fuss.

Reason: Update
Did a little testing with an OOTB door family... everything is fine even when I add lots of ref. planes, and a couple of nested families... but the second I make those nested families SHARED, I get into trouble and get no temp dimensions...
Needs more testing... but I´m pretty sure that SHARED nested families is the key here... :banghead:
So I have some support/hanger families that I am using, and they are a little frustrating in that the don't seem to work with dimensions or temporary...
Hi Guys, Perhaps you can help, I have been sent a set of plans that were drawn in version 2012, and I have installed ver 2014 trial to try and print them...
