How can I print to scale?

    Hi guys,

I'm using revit architecture 2011, my project is in "meters". both plans and sections are scale 1:50.

My problem is, I don't know how to open my work "to scale" in photoshop. I am required to print all my work on one 2.2mx5m board. The reason for photoshop is that I also need to render my work there.

I tried exporitng to CAD, opening from CAD & plotting to PDF, then opening it in photoshop, but the scale was all off, & the qualitiy was very bad.

I also tried adding a title sheet in revit, but my work was much bigger than all the sheets I had. I don't know if it's a measure unit issue or not.

What can Ido to fix this? If anyone could lead me to a solution to this, I'd be more than greatful.

    Thanks,

    Carrie

    Hi Carrie,

You can print directly to whichever pdf printer you prefer. I use pdf creator, but there are many out there which give good results. The only thing to watch out for is to ensure that you print at 100% or full scale rather than print to fit. Having done so, it all should be sweet.

No sure what, if anything, will happen with the scales when imported into photoshop.

once you get it printed to your pdf - when you import it into Photoshop, you should be able to make the image the same size as the sheet you printed and should have no issues. I believe when you import it, you can either adjust the size visually or change the x and y % to 100% and should be just fine.

I did notice today - that it works much better if you File >> Place the pdf into your photoshop file, rather than just opening it in photoshop. opening it tries to crop it to some "unknown" edge and then tries to still make 100% but it doesn't quite work.

Hey all- this is a really common problem- so I made a video to address it, it covers cropping/ scaling/ and printing to scale.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.
