    limporting sheet views

I've had a good search through the forum but cant find my exact problem...

I have linked one revit file into another, but when i try to "insert from file > insert views from file" the sheets i need are not showing up in the dialogue. However, drafting views and other sheets from the linked model (which i DON'T need) are showing up ...what am i missing?:banghead:

    edit:

    from autodesk help :

If another project contains a view or sheet that you want to reuse in the current project, use the Insert Views from File tool. This tool can copy the following types of views into the current project:
    Schedules
    Drafting views
    Rendered images
Sheets that contain only drafting views

does this mean i'm going to have to set up elevation views all over again just so i can import the 2d elements?

They dont have to be linked together at all, that has nothing to do with it.

If the sheet you want has Legend Views, or Live Modeled Views, its not going to be in the dialogue box.

Thanks Aaron, so the answer to my last question is yes, yes?

If so, is there any advantage to using 'insert 2d elements' instead of copy/paste?

(apart from not having to open the first file and manually selecting elements, and the command NOT having a 'paste aligned' option)

The answer to the question you posted editing the post is yes, yes. (Will you have to reset your elevations). But, you can copy and paste Elevation Markers if theyre actually the same geometry.

I dont ever use Insert 2D Elements, so i cant say if its better or worse. Then again, i dont use Copy and Paste either.

It's turned into a workflow issue. I've stressed to the boss we need to think about this BEFORE we split up drawing tasks and then try to recombine them later.
Sounds like i need to do some homework on worksharing...

Thanks again Aaron, yet another rep point for you

Oh my god... thats how the work for one project was seperated?? Oh yikes. Worksharing is the easiest and best thing ever. Do it.
