Embed Column in Wall

Hi all, I'm trying to join the column and wall shown in the image, but if I do it with the Cut Profile tool it I have to do each wall layer separately and the wall unjoins. Does anyone have a better way of doing this?

I usually create 2 different wall types. One with the stud that stops at the column, and one for the corner with just the brick.
