    Revit add-ins and the .ini

OK, OK, I could do a bunch of Google-Fu and eventually get to the answer (I swear, I could... ) or I could ask the awesome gurus here and see if anyone knows off the top of their head...

I want to set my UI and Ribbon back to our standard install for when I record tutorials and tips. I thought I could do taht by just swapping .inis with our standard. Nope, the Add-ins still load.

Is there a convient way to do this, or should i just record these on a training machine?
Apparently BigBadBIM was taken, so MrBIMtastic it is.

Move the addin manifest files out of the addins folder. Then relaunch revit.

You could try renaming the addin manifests. So ZtA.addin becomes ZtA.addin.NOT. Then the addin will not be found. And since all the addins are together (one of two places) it is quick to rename and rename back when done.

        Errrrr, still there.

        I removed them from : C:\Users\elewis\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Add ins\2013
I also removed them from C:\Users\elewis\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Add ins\2013 Just in case.

        No dice.

        I'm using Revit BDS 2013.

Did you also remove them from the programData folder? You mention AppData twice. And restart Revit.

I knew they were in two places, but couldn't remember where. Grrrr. Why do they do that? OK, I don't really need to know why.

            Thanks guys.

I'm going o have to get current on why they do that. Just not today.

It actually makes some sense. The ProgramData stuff is shared by all users, while the User AppData stuff is specific user only. Some tools are just so powerful only BIM Managers & Power Users should have them. Make a powerful tool networked, and the manifest is in my user profile, and I can log in as myself on any machine in the office and have my power tools. But all users see the same basic tools on any machine, because they are installed on all machines locally. Slick like bat ****.

I like Slick, not sure about the Bat ****.

I'm going to have to pay special attention :coffee: with to the Add-ins portion of your UDEMY course. (Hint, Hint.)

                  Nothing like a little pressure.
I hope to be working on that script Monday. But first I need to get Removals and Rollouts complete and uploaded today! More coffee!
