    Urgent- 2011 Stand alone license

Please I need some help fast.

I have a new user on Revit 2011.
He took over my old laptop with my active Revit 2011 license on it.
When I turned the laptop over the Revit seat was working and active.
This morning he tells me that his Revit stanalone licnese has timed out yesterday and he has not saved in two days now.

We have a suite package running and when I open AutoCad or even a new session of Revit the license is avtive and non expiring.
But the open unsaved session keeps saying that it is running in demo mode.

Please is there a fix for this, a script that I can run while the seesion is open to reactivate the license so we can save out.

I read about the Network license fix, but dont want to try it, if it might shut down the session.

Thank you in advance for all the master here again for saving my but.

    Cheers

Is it possible that he has logged in as a different user?

On one of my boxes which is has multiple users, If I use revit in the wrong account I am unable to save.

I don't know of any way of activating the licencing whilst the session is active. I am clutching at straws here, but maybe check to see if there are some temp files created, or even see how far back the journal goes - might be able to run a new session using the journal to recreate what has been done in the past few days.

Pretty limp help I know, but it the best I have at the moment.

btw, if it is a standalone licence, I don't think the network licence fix will help at all.

This is a case of a user making a really bad decision, because they didnt pipe up and ask the question.

Hopefully someone smarter than me has some trickery, otherwise youre in a world of hurt and are about to lose that work. Journal files MIGHT work, but i doubt it... If anything (AT ALL) is unexpected in the journal, youll spend more time fighting the code than you will redoing the work. ANY fix that reinstantiates a license from demo mode (demo mode is NOT the timeout feature. You can get a license back from the timeout feature because of the grace period, that is NOT the same thing at all) automatically closes and restarts Revit, specifically to make sure people DONT do what your user did.

I gathered as much from Autodesk support and friend at reseller support.
I just went over to the user with a friendly smile and suggested that next time they should perhaps concider calling me.

Thank you for all the fast reply.

This forum is like a good steak. i can always copnt on it to make me feel better.

        Cheers all

sorry I'm late, so this might not help anymore:
Try starting up a second session of Revit. Is this licensed? If yes, you can try to copy/paste from one session to another.
He would need to remember what he was doing (or it should be obvious) but maybe you can save some time with this.

After this, kick him in the nuts for not saving for 2 freaking days. WTF was he thinking???
