Which Revit topics would make you sign up for a class at AU?

First, what is the reason for asking this?

Last year, I would have signed for a good 3 hour lab about Introduction to Revit MEP, but that was not in the catalog. My idea with this post is to let the prospective speakers know which topics would be very interesting to find this year, so that they might consider sending proposals about these topics.

I would sign up for the following classes, if they were available:

• "Introduction to Revit Server"
• "Using the new 3D assembly view feature" (2012)
• "Introduction to DB-Link" (but really making it work)
• "Essentials things to keep in mind for a good BIM kick-off meeting"

So, which other Revit topics would make you sign up for a class at AU?

I'm a programmer so I would love to see REAL-WORLD case studies of API usage. How a firm utilized the API to conquer a problem and also make the code available for you to take back to the office and tinker with, those are my favorite, there was only a few last year, hope to see more this year.

Definately "Introduction to DB-Link" (but really making it work) we have been trying to get this to work forever especially on our 64bit machines. we are finding that we are using Access more and more. It is a fantastic tool when it works. It is also cheep since everyone in our office has it installed as part of the office package. It also allows for non Revit users to get a piece of the action.

On a 64-bit operating system you cannot export to Excel or Access. Microsoft® does not currently provide drivers for a 64-bit operating system

We had an unconference on BIM Kickoff meetings last year, it was awesome. i might submit our BIM Execution Plan and a class on that, and what needs to be included.

I would like to see how to make a series a construction documents sing. Elevations with line weights that help tell the story. How best to tie detail info to sections/details and lock so if base info moves it moves, but is there a way to lock detail as group. I have seen Paul Aubin detail class and that is a good start but is a little in a vacuum. How do you create construction documents with line weights, enough detail, etc in an efficient manner that gives contractor enough info to build project

We have been able to export to Access in RAC 2011 it required that we had 64bit Office installed plus a few other patches. We miss the bi-directionality that the RDBlink offered.

This topic probable should be a thread of its own.

Well, the "Introduction to MEP" would be nice.
Also "Revit to Navisworks and vice verse"
"Real World API" would also be nice

How are you exporting to Access? With DBLink or some other way. I have Office 2010 64 bit installed and I could not get DBLink to work 4 or 5 months ago after days of trying :banghead:

in a heart beat, we even have our ethernet system in our office, but i find the file size is still a restriction!!
