    [All Verticals] - RFT Editor

    Applies to: - All Verticals

    New Feature / Problem:
Revit Family Templates (RFT) as currently configured do not allow for customization within normal operation. Each RFT is prepackaged with set parameters that often fail to satisfy real world requirements. Line Weights/Types, View Scales, Wall Orientation, Reference Planes, etc. are all areas that need improvement over the basic OOTB.

Why do you need this Feature / Why is it a Problem:
Currently the only way to customize RFT's is to create a "New" family using a given RFT, make configuration changes desired, "Save As" a given RFA, and rename the file extension in Explorer from RFA to RFT. The user is required to maintain the correct file location for the RFT and ignore the standard Windows warning about changing file names and operability.

The process should be as simple as being able to save to RFT file type.

Any computer operation where a direct method is available over a workaround is beneficial to all.

    Attachment comments:
My particular pet peeve is the default wall orientation (although view scale is up there too).

Do you agree with the above?? Use the "RATE THIS THREAD" tool at the top right corner to express you opinion.

Would also be very nice if there was a way to strip out all the OOBT linestyles ect. without them being loaded back in, if the family is opened from within the project.
