Best Book you read in 2010

Ok, so this is a blatant way of me finding some more great books.

Nevertheless, for me, without any doubt the best book I read last year was:

"Born to Run" by Christopher McDougall.

Simply sensational book about -ultra marathon runners - the tarahumara (running People in Northern Mexico)- why humans are built the way we are - and how Nike are to blame for a whole lot of stuff. Apart from being very interesting, it is a very enjoyable read and exceptionally well written.

It Might be a touchy subject for some or most of people but a great book I read was: " The Christ Conspiracy by Acharia S"
This book basically gives you another perspective into the origins of the story of Christ and his great similarities to other avatars of different religions such as Krishna, Buddha, Mithra, etc. And also their relation to the older more "pagan religions" that worshiped the sun.

127 Hours (Between a rock and a hard place).

Its the Aron Ralston story of how he gets trapped with his arm pinned underneath a boulder and has to self amputate it to survive. Its a very short book, and parts of it are a little drawn out (explaining the scenery on trips he took throughout his life), but a combination of it being true, it having real pictures (not re-enacted), and the sheer incredibility of the circumstances make it one i couldnt put down.

I had nightmares after hearing that story. I think that I'll pass on the book!

I had nightmares after reading it, but i generally have nightmares every night anyway. Its not a gross book, AT ALL. "That" part of it is only a few pages long, at the very end. Of the 127 hours he was trapped, he didnt seriously do anything gross for 120 of the hours. Its more about state of mind, resourcefulness, and relationships (who would look for me?) than anything else. Even the pictures (which are real) arent gross. He TRIED getting a pic of the amputated hand right after he was done, but you cant see it, its UNDER a boulder. LOL.

Its not gross. You should read it.

Let the Great World Spin by Colum McCann. Fantastic story about different people in New York City on the day that Philip Petite walked between the World Trade Center towers on a tight rope. Probably one of the best pieces of literature I've read in the past 10 years.
