    Replies to blog posts

Quick question here: Is it possible to exclude blog feeds from direct replies and instead open up a new thread for people wanting to debate them? There's a LOT of echoing in the blogosphere which well, is kind of confusing. Take project Spark. There are 6 separate blogs here talking about that and now we have at least two separate discussions...

Or do we just need to stick with the agreement that responses to blogs are best started in a new thread?

That's a lot of extra threads to discuss something that already has a thread....

It already drives me crazy when someone creates a new thread without providing a link to the original thread so I know what the heck was being discussed before...

Doubt that it´ll be that many extra threads... currently only very few of the blog feeds have replies in them...

I´m game for locking the blog forum from replies - And letting people create threads in the open forums on any topic they see fit.

(Replies in the blog feeds, also clutter up the "Most recent" box)

Given I suggested it, I'd vote for it! <looks for poll>

LOL....okay, I do see your point ....but if you start talking about one person's blog and I am looking at someone else's blog....I get confused easily...yeah, some people copy other people's blog almost word for word...but some have better perspectives than others.

When the time comes, believe you me, I shall!

Can't promise the same of others though - but then that's what post #2 is for.... ie.
"That's nice - but a link to what you're chatting on about would be useful!"

Seems to me that if the forum is going to include blog feeds that responding to the actual post feed makes more sense than starting a new thread to discuss it. I wouldn't expect the blogger to necessarily respond, more for the members here to discuss what is being said in the post internally. If someone has something to counter or add then it really ought to end up in a comment at the blog.
