2017 Key Notes Disappearing Dymano Fix?

First of all I must say how very disappointed I am about this issue and the lack of a fix by Autodesk. This issue has shaken my love for Revit to the core. The thing I love about Revit is that it sees what is modeled and annotated and applies it correctly to sheets based on view settings. I am no longer confident that my key notes will show up on my sheets and that is a huge problem. This is a case where Revit has failed.

The issue is in 2017 some or all key notes will not show up on sheets. I have found the following ways to fix it and none of them are acceptable to me due to the large amount of views and sheets I am dealing with.

    • Change view underlay base range to the level of the view then back to none.
    • Change element Phase to Existing and back to New Construction.
    • Copy all key notes in a view and past back in the same position.
    • Adjust the view cut plans so it is above elements in question.

My question to the group is:

Has anyone developed a Dynamo Script to fix this issue?

Not developed this sorry Dan, but it shouldn't be too hard if you want to auto-mate the process you list above. Have a crack and post any queries back here when you run into issues

Are the keynote tags not showing up at all or are the tags there but with no value in them? If they show up but with no value (top keynote in the image) selecting all in the view/project and nudging them once right, then back left (direction doesn't really matter) will usually clear it up.

        Amoursol,
I am working on something now and will post a solution to the group as soon as I have it working. I am sure I will run into issues along the way. Thanks for offering your insights.

        Cellophane,
The Key notes show up in the view with a value but the schedule does not recognize all of them.
        Thanks,
        Dan

I have it working with one huge snag, you have to open all plan sheets prior to running the tool. It also only does one level at a time.

It simply changes the view parameter "Range: Base Level" to the level associated with the view. Then changes it back to “None” causing the Key notes to re-populate.

To use the tool first open all sheets with the level you want to start with. Then run the script with Dynamo player and choose the level. It will do the rest. Be careful I had a model crash once while testing. Synchronize your model prior to running.

Published to my package "KC Star" try it out and let me know your thoughts.

How I can cycle thru (open then close) the sheets that contain the affected views? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
          Thanks,
          Dan

            Hello Dan,

Do you mean open as in 'Open as a Tile' in Revit? If so then unfortunately I don't know that off the top of my head. I'll keep my eyes open though.
