RFO Chat Room in the Future?

    Hello,

I am a chat room person and always have been. There are many of us out there who just like to communicate via IM, instead of reading and posting threads.

I think this will bring an additional demographic to RFO, and although it is not "recordable" in a sense, it should not limit people from posting in recorded threads.

Is there any possibility of getting a chat room up and running on RFO? Who would I talk to at RFO to get something like this up and running? (Yes, I am volunteering my time here, and volunteering to help find other volunteers.)

I support this 100%. However there are some logistical problems when you open up live chat.
    1. Privacy (saving the chat dialog)
    2. Lost information (see above)

We had chat over at smallbizserver.net...because everyone lived in different places it was hard to get everyone on there at the same time...

I think a chat would be a really good idea as well.

Well surely in a "chat" environment, the onus is on the individual to use some common sense? ie don't post anything they want to be stored, and don't post anything that might be considered private. Sorted.

I'm not a chat-room type person myself, but I can see that it would have it's uses, if people want to have a casual chat. Unless there's an issue with funding, I'd be all for it.

Me seeing that chat is entertaining time and not for storing a lot of info , so i support storing(recording) useful information into a thread but let this as an option it should not be trend.

I am, and always will be, against the chats. RFO is all about sharing our knowledge, by leaving up both our questions and answers for future reference.

But if anyone is up for it? revitchat.org is available...

I would have thought the idea of a chatroom would be to switch off, discuss stuff other than revit, and have a bit of craic?
