    Talking Reputation Points

Here at RFO we strive to give people recognition for sharing their experiences and knowledge with the rest of us. The system we have set in place for this recognition is our Reputation System. See this post:User Titles, Post Counts & Reputation System ! to read more about the reputation system and what it has to offer.

If you notice a post that helped you directly or even if the post is good overall knowledge, give the member some reputation. Anybody can do it. You give reputation by clicking on the black star icon in the bottom left of the post. You can also leave a comment if you wish. The comment is optional of course, but it is always nice to read about how you helped someone.

The more green cards someone has the more they have helped others and contributed to the overall wealth of knowledge RFO has to offer the global Revit community.

    Thank to our dedicated members,

In the interest of clarity - how is user rep using the star really that different from the "Like" button on the other side of the post? Aren't they kind of redundant?

We have talked about the like button and having it give people reputation, however the idea is this: The like button is designed so that not only the poster can see who enjoyed their post but everybody can. You can see this at the bottom of posts that have been liked by members. I feel the Like button is the reason why the Reputation Points has diminished over time. It is much easier just to give a "Like" then to use the Reputation System. The reason you like something doesn’t always deem Reputation for the post. We crack a lot of jokes on a daily basis. The Like button is great for conveying to the poster that you liked their post, but jokes are not valid for Reputation points. This is not meant to discourage you for using the Like button at all. Just keep in mind if the post truly has beneficial information, give the member some Reputation, then click the Like button.

Also on a side note. The POTM will also give the user Reputation, but make sure to use the Reputation button first then POTM button.

I was thinking about creating several more RFO identities so that I could give myself the highly-valued rep that I so richly deserve. The Pyramid scheme of rep points, if you will.

Is there a "bad rep" category? I'd probably clean up in that one..........
