    Official RFO YouTube channel?

Would it be a crazy/unworkable idea to have an official RFO YouTube account for posting "how-to/help" videos?

It wouldn't have to be any sort of curated "only the best" library, or "officially" represent RFO anymore than any post/thread does. I think the point would be that it could serve as a more stable/long-term way of linking to videos, and be an official part of RFO in the same way as forum posts are.

Account info would only be given out to the top contributors and respected members.

Sure it's sloppy, etc., but I just thought this was a great example of showing a complicated concept in five minutes that would be rather impractical to write up in a post. (sorry Alex, feel free to delete the link if you want to ).

I like the idea, is the only suggestion for YouTube one to get better coverage? Would "just" a sticky in "Tips & Tricks" not serve our community just as well? I'd be happy to contribute either way - although I've only ever made one jing.

having a youtube channel could expand the member base. I'm sure there are people that go straight to youtube for help videos in lieu of using a standard google search.

Who is going to administer the YouTube channel?

I don't know how it technically works, so this might not be practical, but I kind of assumed there wouldn't be any single administrator - it would just have have generic credentials like youtube@revitforum.org email address & password, and anyone with the login info could post videos to it. I want to stress that my thought isn't to create some sort of "perfect" library of videos (there would never be agreement on what should be included)... the point is to make it as easy as possible for select contributors to post videos to assist their posts, and ensure the links work long-term. It's the same idea as being able to post pics with posts (maybe some day will be able to do the same with video, but I understand the current bandwidth constraints of that).

I suggested YouTube because they're stable, free (or very low cost), not going anywhere, and seems to be a universal service accessible by most of the world. But it doesn't have to be YouTube.

Anyway, just a thought - you admins and mods can hash it out and decide if it's possible and worth giving a try.

The "official" RFO Youtube channel can be found here RevitForum - YouTube, pretty much in the same location as the past two years

Might be helpful if that were linked someplace obvious, like the nav bar at the top

I'd forgotten all about that flyaround, hehe. I think promoting the RFO channel more is a great idea. With kind permission from the authors there are more you could upload straight away, (Julien's adaptive components video comes to mind).
