RSS Feeds - How to use them

First off a little knowledge of what a RSS feed is. Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is technology you can use to have information sent to you, rather than having to go look for it. Basically, RSS feeds will update you on what you want to be updated on.

I will make serveral posts below outlining how to setup and use RSS Feeds.

    RSS Feed Readers:
Now I only use Microsoft Outlook for my reader so if you don't have or wish to use something else you will have to figure it out. Others are more than welcome to post walkthroughs for other RSS Readers if they wish.

    Outlook RSS Reader:

If you are using Internet Explorer, Outlook will automatically add all your feeds from IE into Outlook. However if you are not using IE, then you will need to add the RSS feed link manually. Simply right click the RSS Feeds tab in your Navigation Pane and select "Add a new RSS Feed" then copy and paste the web address of the feed. Please note that you must use the RSS link, not a normal web page. This RSS link can be access by clicking on any RSS button and having it redirect you to the page where you can subscribe.

    Setting up Internet Explorer:

Browse to the main forum topic you want to have updates for. This can be the entire RevitForum.org or simply one of the many main topics listed. Then you will notice a orange square with white arcs on it in the upper right of your browser. Click this button and it will redirect you to the feeds page. Within this page click Subscribe to this feed. You are now subscribed to the Feed within IE. You will need to have a RSS Reader to view the feed outside of IE.

    Setting up Firefox:

Browse to the main forum topic you want to have updates for. Pull down Bookmarks, and select Subscribe to this Page. After you are redirected, select the RSS Reader you wish to use and you are done.

    Setting up Google Chrome:

I have not found a simple way of using RSS Feed within Chrome. Someone else may have information of how to do this and be willing to post a follow up to this post. A Google search may also help you to setup RSS Feeds within Chrome.

Nice post Alex. It's posts like this that make we wish we could nominate posts from this thread as POTM.

Nope, this is why I haven't uninstalled IE. When I want to RSS a site I copy/paste the url in IE and do it from there. It's a pain...

Sorry, not me. Seems some mods are more equal then others.
But it would be nice to have this stickied or merged with a sticky handling the use of this site.
