Scenario:
18No. plots
min. 3No. DO's per plot
= min. 816 combinations

this is probably more an exercise for Fractal or some other such magic - but (for now) we're still operating in the realm of "willful thinking"

so...

to make (try) and make our lives a little simpler, not having to jump in and out of DOs and such - I thought, why not make my life complicated, and build a graph to enable playing with the mass heights of the DOs like a graphic-equaliser - set the input value, then play with sliders.

Easy enough, have a quick Google and find this seemingly spot-on example:

and build similar.

Problem is, Zach's example is going for Index 0, whereas I want mine to go for the liquid, user-adjustable value, and I can not for the life of me get the EQUALS function to do what I need it to do*

*look up the user input in the list of design options to identify the design option elements reside in, then manipulate ONLY those elements.

I know this is me asking about lists, AGAIN, and it's so much like every Dynamo query I've ever asked before - but even after re-reading my old threads, I can't make that eureka leap to "aha!"

Little help?

Sounds like a similar project I just finished. Am I reading right your attempting to drive Design variations from an excel table in lieu of multiple Design Options in Revit?

If that’s the case, glad to share some lessons learned from two recent projects which just did this process.

Kinda, but no, insomuch we'll still have the DO's (for visual "analysis" & optioneering outputs) - but more, instead of going in/out of the dialog, and (come schedule export) having to have - and maintain - multiple schedules, use Dynamo:
1. to fetch "test" values from Excel to drive elements within the DOs
2. to rip outcomes (from our mass elements) and feed back into the Excel.

Nothing otherworldly clever - and I'll be keeping this thread alive with my progress* - so feel free to chip in whenever.

*NB: to all reading, I'll probably be doing a fair bit with our custom SPs, so value of any .dyn shared here will be questionable!!!!
