    New pile numbering

Last week i made my first real Dynamo script to read information from an excel file (which i extracted from Autocad) and it worked perfectly.
I imported the coordinates and modelled the piles on those spots automatically with the correct coordinates and numbering.

Now i need to add 2 piles in the middle of the grid and change the numbering of the other piles.

I want to extract the coordinates again to excel and then renumber the piles in excel, and then import them again to update the numbers on the piles.
Is this a good though, or do you guys think of better ways to do it.

I also see some tutorials on numbering with a spline but i don't really want to do that since its 775 piles, but if that's the fastest way i will.

Your idea is solid, unless adding the 2 piles causes the renumbering to be systematic, then it might be easier to read the numbers from the piles, seperate into need-to-change, don't-need-to-change, add 2 to all the need-to-change ones and set the parameter values accordingly.

How did you extract the info from Autocad?

Obviously I'm not OP, but I guess by running DATAEXTRACTION on selected blocks to an Excel file.

I used dataextraction indeed to get the data from Autocad to Excel.

And for the renumbering i tried exporting to excel to renumber but the excel table got wonky and wasn't usable so i just user a suffix, now i got a pile numbered 176 and a pile numbered 176a that was just the fastest way to go.

How about numbering by location? Something like <XX.X><Y.YY> coordinates, should be accurate enough and you can always add unique numbers between existing piles.
Or to make it more user freindly use a grid and number them <Grid Letter><Grid Number><XY from grid intersection> so users can find them easily using the two grids.
    Could all be done automatically.

The contractor needed the numbers asap and this was fine, so i did not use any more time to fix it.
