    BIM Model to Subcontractors

    All,
I work for a Design Build Firm and we are starting to get subcontractors asking for our Revit models for there take off's. I am very reluctant to give them a copy of our actual Revit Model, however would like to give them something as that is the whole point of BIM. We had them sign a Electronic Document Release form and now I need to figure out what type of file format to give them. Any suggestions out there?
    Thanks!

I agree....give them the model....if you had something written up when you provided DWG files it should still apply for the Revit model...

    Now if you cheated Revit...then...well...

The AIA has some documents related to BIM usage. If you haven't already it is probably worth looking through.

Stop worrying, issue a model using eTransmit and be done with it. What's the problem?

Thanks all. I was more worried about giving away the client specfic content than anything however our contracts take care of that. Does anyone strip anytingout of the model or just give them the whole works? ie titleblocks our custom content that is loaded in content ect?

Perfect Thanks. Another one for you experts we are testing out giving a model and a large flat screen onsite to out superintendents so they can use the model to their advantage. We have been testing with a .dwf as we like the markup tools that come right into Revit for communication. Does anyone else use this process or have a better one? The only problem that I have run into is that the .dwf file opens very slow and will crash when cutting too many sections.
    Thanks!

There was a course at AU 2011 about this....where they had a job box with a big screen and the Revit model....superintendents could save pdf's of what the needed to see and transfer it to their iPad's....

I think it was Aaron's class...
