    Snag/Punch-lists

So snag lists, or for the US-contingent, "punch" lists (why so violent eh?)… a question:

    But first, a full disclaimer:
    1. "we" have Newforma, so in the first I would rather we use it, or more specifically, it's "Punch List" activity.
    2. our client, who shall remain unnamed, should like us to use another platform, but trials of it Friday highlighted "issues"... note: not my own doubts, those of others (but I have my own)

    Regardless...

Were we to sidestep both of the platforms available (!?) I am seeking advice on:
    A. alternatives (of the pre-baked variety)
    B. recommendations (mostly against) a home-cooked solution.

with item A; only time can tell if any of you know of, and offer such...

with item B; I first imagined an .xls to .doc mail merge affair, but image management with Word just gets too ugly too quickly (size, orientation etc)… and whilst hardly taxing, the software-step-throughs (to get to an output) seem overly onerous. I did then think about Access, which hilariously handles the same, only swifter, and arguably better, using a simple table+form… only "problem" then is my limited end-game knowledge with generating a report - and the fact a clever person would connect the form to a query, not to the table direct... and I'm not that clever, or patient, when ghetto-hacking.

So, curious, how do you do yours?

Bluebeam? Takes a bit of setup to create the spaces, but once done seems pretty handy. Combined with a studio session and everyone could have access to it.

I worked on a job once where the contractor was using plan grid and I remember thinking it worked pretty well. I have no idea how much setup they had to do on their end to make it work though. We have newforma as well and don't use the punchlist tool at all, but we have used the field notes tool for a punchlist a few times. I'm interested to see what comes out of this since I think we've got a lot of room for improvement in this department as well.

Both PlanGrid and BlueBeam are good options.

    Cheers y'all.

I should've added - this isn't something we'd be looking at an extra-outlay for - since (formal) site inspections (and commentary) are very seldom an appointed task (alas) - but since Bluebeam gets a lot of love from other quarters, perhaps it's time I (re)investigated.

NB: (FAO Chris) interested why you've gone with NPC's Field Notes over Punch List? I (read we) have not played with either all that much, certainly not to implementation level anyway - although tbh I'd always read the latter as more "per-room/space" rather than "on site"
