    NEW PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT:

We are very pleased to announce the imminent arrival of PROJECT BROWSER for Autodesk Revit 2013.

Project Browser borrows the hugely successful interface from Family Browser and extends that to provide complete Project and Family Management in the one application.

    Some of the features include:

    1. Tabs that separate common view types which minimizes the amount of scrolling through Project Browser especially on large projects
    2. Totally customizable fonts, sizes and colors.
    3. Easily add custom folders. Drag and Drop views into these custom folders.
    4. Custom folders available for all view types including schedules, legends etc.
    5. Quick Filters to filter the Project Browser by common view parameters, phases and view templates.
    6. Family Browser built into Project Browser.
    7. Powerful search feature to find any View/Family in Project/Family in Library quickly
    8. Query Builder to build custom tabs and quick filters for reuse. These can be shared between other members of the project team.

From customer user testing we have reports of significant time savings using Kiwi Codes Project Browser.

We have been using Family Browser now for about 8 months. This addin will save you hundreds of hours per person per year. The return on investment is realized within hours of using it. I very highly recomend using Family Browser no matter what level you are at with Revit.

We have now started working on the next version of Family Browser and would like to hear your comments on what you think should be added, enhanced or fixed. Over the next month or so I will be posting questions on our blog and we would appreciate some feedback. The first two posts are up :

    1. Enhanced search function Revit Family Browser: Enhanced Search Feature
    2. Tab Layout options Revit Family Browser: Tab Layouts

Help us make the next version of Family Browser the best yet!!!

When selecting component in project (say window) FB opens at "its" TAB/TYPE/SIZE in FB browser.
Example, just want to go up one size in window, select window in project, FB opens at windows location in browser, then you just have to click on next in catalogue list.

Hi Mark, Good suggestion as one that I have had implemented at times but have remarked it out of code at the moment as there was a couple of issues with it.

    1. First attempt I had it recording what tab the family was inserted from etc in a Shared Parameter so it could find it later, but comments i received during Beta is that user didn't want their families populated with API SP's which was fair enough.

    2. With the introduction of the Revit 2012 API I stored the required data in Extensible storage attached to the family Instance but there is a slight pause in that happening with is a know issue with ES, so I pulled that as well.

I will have another look at this fuction as to me that would be really usefull if it works correctly.

    Cheers

    Phillip

I never loaded it other than the trial. Got a bit busy, but I will purchase it one day, I promise!
One thing that messed me up was as soon as I passed over the FB, it would activate. Is there a way to have a split second delay? The reason is, I run 3 monitors. So, I put the FB on the first one along with my project browser and properties window. Well, when I had any command active, if I wanted to go to the properties, as soon as I passed over the FB (no matter how fast) it would kill my active command.

I know I could rearrange the windows, but I like the PB first, then Properties, then FB.

The other thing was sub directories. I may have just not had it set up correctly, but I wanted to add all of the OOTB detail components. Well, I wanted to have it structured so I would just see the Divisions on the tab. Then, when I hit the Division 03 - Concrete tab for example, I would then see the sub directories for that division only. But, it would show every directory on it's own tab from the beginning. Any way around that? Or is that just something I would have to get used to. I admit I didn't use it enough to really get used to it.

    Hi Dan

Your first issue that you have bought up is a known issue and I'm hopeing that will be resolved very soon in a patch.

The second one you would have to set them up as groups IE you would have a group set for Division 3 and in that group you would have all the tabs assoiciated with that division.

    I hope that makes sense?

It does. I think I missed that in the videos.

I'll have to purchase it and see what's what. That was the one thing that I really didn't like, but it was all my fault.

    Hi.

I have just posted an update to Family Browser to our website with the following enhancements

    1. Rotated Text on the tabs to read as per Revits vertical dims.
    2. Fixed all the issues of Focus between Family Browser and the Revit drawing canvas.
    3. Family Browser now does not write JPG images of the family thumbnails to the hard drive when not needed. They are still written as per previous releases for custom thumbnail images.
    4. Moved the Revit cancel command from mouse over Family to Family Browser click so that inserting a family from Family Browser now acts exactly like choosing a family and inserting from Revit itself.

More information can be found Here.
