Post Upon Room tag command all linked levels needlesly refreshed.

    Hi,

    Background:
I have linked in every level of the multi-storey project I am working on. However I cannot use linked views to show the room tags.
Instead I need to add the tags in the file that is linking(the documentation file) to the file where the modelling is performed.

    Problem:
The file where the documentation is performed refreshes every (11) levels each time a room tag is added, it can take 5 minutes to perform the command and 5 minutes to cancel the transaction. Is there a Revit setting, option etc. to prevent this?

    regards,

    Sisyphus

What do you mean by the file "refreshes every level"?
Do you mean you have 11 Views open and they all re-paint?
If so, maximize the level View into which you are placing your Tags, and then pick Close Hidden Windows from the View Tab.

Pardon my lack of clarity, to reply to your answer, it's not a matter of closing opened views (there is only one view opened), I have a file that has many separate models linked into a federated file. The status bar on the bottom right of the Revit GUI, is displaying it's progress through all the links, even though they are lower levels of the fed file, they are being updated and can take up to 5 mins approx. to refresh before a room tag can be added to the room in that view.

    Cheers

Sounds like a good use for Worksets.
I'd put each Link on it's own Workset. Then you can Close the Worksets for the floors you're not working on. I would think that would speed up the process.
