Unless you also exploded it, you can just select the imported dwg and hit delete... If it's been exploded, you can "window select" everything, and use the filter option to select all the acad remains... But you'd still have a lot of cleaning up to do. The imported dwg will have left some Line Patterns, Line Styles, Fill Patterns and what not. That's the reason why you should always LINK a dwg, instead of importing it.

Can i make it not even showing in imported family in visibility and graphics because when you hit delete even if you do not explode it , it is still there in imported families in visibilty and graphics?
Also what i know about link it should update itself automatic mean any change in autocad should be followed in revit and that is what did not happen inside revit shall i restart revit to see this change ?

Nope, no restart required, you'll just need to reload the link from "Manage Links". And yes, imported DWG's can be turned off using V/G (for each view), by unchecking everything on the "Imported Categories" Tab.

Thanks i do not know how to reload it !
about imported categories what i want is not hiding it, i want to make it as i am not imported it because when you delete the imported category(Cad) and go to tab of imported families you will see layers and everything is exsiting there (it is like want to be sure that linked deleted file is not live inside revit anymore ).

If you have subscription, get Model Review and install it. Then run it with one of the out of the box templates that detect imports. Then export to html, copy paste to Excel. Format offending element IDs with ";" separations and paste into Manage->Select by IDs then hit delete. Purge project and it should go away (purging sometimes requires a few runs ~3)

Sorry to dig up this thread, but even Revit 2018 still has not resolved this cleanly!

Wanted to try edwinguerra's suggestion but I don't have a subscription and only wanted to remove some imported DWGs, not all of them...

Fortunately, could finally do that using DWG Explorer. It let me check each imported cad file in its view to decide to delete the file or not. It can also delete a dwg's layers directly from VG > Imported Categories if they remain there after the cad file has been removed

A slower, but free way of doing it can be using Revit lookup and selecting by id, then hit the 'show' button.

Thanks Elton. From my experience, the 'Show' button doesn't work for all DWGs though. For example, if I have a dwg brought in as "current view only" and now it is outside of my view's crop boundaries, clicking "Show" will just give me a "No good view can be found" message!

Even if I stay patient for long enough to hunt these dwgs down manually and remove them all, some may still leave their types in VG > Imported Categories for some reasons, even after I Purge Unused

Autodesk doesn't recommend using DWGs in Revit anyway, so we probably won't have this sorted out anytime soon...
