    Phase Renaming

While not really thinking about it I've created a model of an existing office building in the New Construction phase. We will be doing some tenant improvements and demo of existing tenants. But the model is all created with a series of groups which seems to make it complicated to take everything and change its phase.

Is there any blow back if I just delete the existing phase rename the new construction phase "existing" and create a new phase called New Construction? Seems logical to me, but I haven't done it before and I just want to make sure I'm not shooting myself in the foot, or the knee.

I'll have to check the phase and phase filters of my views, but that's easily dealt with. Anything else I'm missing?

Well, you can't really deleting it. You're merging two phases. So if you Combine the New Construction with the Existing all View settings will remain, you'll only need to rename the Phase.
That said, has been a while since I've done it (before when my template wasn't set up all that well). So you might want to do a Save As before you start meddling with them.

Anyway: if you drew everything in one Phase there shouldn't be a problem.

Itll be fine. But if youre going to have any file Links, make sure the Phases and Phase Filters are named EXACTLY the same, or "By Host View" in VG goes right to crap.

EDIT: 2012 also has some instability messing with Phases in files that were upgraded from 2011. Weve documented it on several projects. If it Fatal Errors trying to get out of the Phases box, try an audit, or another machine. Freakin junk.

Thanks for your responses. I'll give it a go and see if I have any problems (and yes, a Save As will be the first step! =)

I'll name things exactly the same, and hopefully I won't have any fatal errors as I started this in 2012 (but yikes! good to know).
