    Any resources similar to bimobject?

    Hi all,

I was just wondering if there is any other site to download bim objects other than BIMOBJECTS. I have been having trouble with parameters loading families and groups. Any recommendation will be appreciated.

    Thank you!

Any family you download could have all sorts of issues ranging from parameters that don't play nice to imported dwg's and all sorts of crap like materials and linetypes that bloat your project. In general I think the best practice is to build your own stuff or at least go over EVERYTHING in the families you download.

There are a lot of sites to download stuff, but as @Robin already mentioned those will contain a lot of crappy things, ^^+1 for modeling your own stuff, that will take more time and effort but at the end you'll be working with your own content not without mentioning that you will know exactly how things were done and why they work and why not!

One other thing that downloaded families will have is Shared Parameters. Becasue they will all be made from a different Shared Parameter file you will most likely not be able to schedule them very well. Meaning that if there is a Shared Parameter called Length in 2 families, both made from a different SP file you will not get them into 1 column in your schedule without jumping trough hoops.

-1 for bimobject content. I've seen shared parameters named exactly the same across families that are different data types, which means revit won't load the second family until you remove or change the offending parameters.
Other than that those families tend to be overloaded with other parameters that are totally useless in our workflows.

    Totally not worth my time.
