Under the Manage Tab is the Shared Parameters button.. click that. It will show the Shared Parameter File location, if you have one you need to browse to the location of the file. If you don't have one at all you need to click the create button and start from scratch.

If you have a "the person that knows Revit" in the office it would be worth asking that person if one is set up for use. If that person doesn't exist and you need to create one I suggest doing some reading on them first. As far as shared parameters go, what you do echos thru eternity. Well, not really but it can feel like it sometimes.

Here the autodesk page on it. https://knowledge.autodesk.com/suppo...85988-htm.html

If you search for it on the forum you will see a ton of posts about the topic. The file, naming conventions, updating, maintenance, revit versions, favorite gripes.

    Taina,
The main question is: are you an independent designer, or are you working at a firm? If independent, you can create a Shared Parameter txt file 'from scratch', as mentioned, and subsequent families/models can then path to it to add to or load from.

If you are working at a firm, start a discussion with the management about if a Shared Parameter file has already been started, where it lives on your network, who can add to it (hopefully an experienced person, to at least consult with before adding), and how to organize it for use over the entire life of the firm working in Revit (yes, it's THAT influential on processes).

The Autodesk Knowledge link will acquaint you with the concept, but each firm/org has to define a strategy for it on their own, based on how they work (I have a separate group for certain categories, where as SPs that will be shared across categories go into a 'Data' group).

If the approach to the Shared Parameter creation/tracking isn't organized, it WILL come back to bite you, in the end. If you're the first to address this at you firm, congratulations! You've just made yourself more valuable.
