    Question Revit 2019 hanging?

In Revit 2019.2, when I click the File button, it hangs for several seconds, and hang time varies between locations and internet speed it seems. Is something trying to "call home" or connect to some server? Is there any checkbox I'm missing that can disable whatever Revit is "looking for"? I just want to be able to click File and it open, like all past versions. Thanks in advance!

Have you checked your free disc space on your C drive? It could be that there's not enough free space.

I got the same problem in 2019. A reinstall of the complete computer didn't fix it for me so i just live with is now.
I will leave 2019 asap and upgrade to 2020, i got a feeling groups are broken too in 2019, it gives me problems everytime.

So I'm not the only one, thanks for confirming. I will continue to research and hope for more replies.

Mine does it too. Ive never noticed, though, because i never go in that menu.

The machine i checked it on is my office desktop, too. Which means its never opened a file that has a hanging path, or something missing. So i dont think its related to that.

On my machine, though, it only does it the first time in a day that i access the File menu. I even exited Revit, and relaunched it. Then accessing the File menu is snappy fast, again.

By the way, it is documented in the journals:

    'E 15-May-2019 08:01:49.410; 0:<
    Jrn.AppButtonEvent 1 , "Application Menu is opening"
    'E 15-May-2019 08:01:56.363; 0:<

This is the file menu popping up, and you can see that- on this occassion- its taking almost 7 seconds to open. Other times its down at 2 or less. Immediately before or after this action, its reading paths for BIM360 models. I wonder if thats related?

I was kind of thinking this as well. I do know in 2019 the Cloud Worksharing switched to a new platform so I was chalking it up to possibly "more data" being exchanged between Revit and that service. Just a hunch though, I can't substantiate that claim by any means and I rarely get into my Journal file.

    Thanks for the comments.

it does it for some computers in our firm too. it sometimes takes as long as 20 seconds to open the file menu, and we are on the other side of the pond. maybe autodesk has something to say about this?
