Area Plans on Plans Other Than Floor Plans

Okay, here's my dilemma. I need to do an area plan on my foundations. I can't use the floor plan because I have different foundations offsets (12-18" drops where the lower slab extends beyond the upper slab opening). I can't just click on each slab because I create my stone ledges using slab edges. So, technically, the slab ends 5.5" short of the edge of slab. I can't create an area plan of the same view because the area boundaries carry over and can' be deleted without deleting them in both views (I already have an area plan for my finished floor for example). I know I can switch to gross vs rentable, but again, I'll need to do two area plans for the same floor plan and that can't be done. If I create a new floor plan view, it won't show up in the area plan dialogue box (I think that's populated by level, not by plan view).

Any ideas I'm not thinking of?

I guess I could just export to ACAD and draw a polyline. I'd rather keep it in Revit though...

You just create addition Area Schemes. You can make as many as you need.

Well damn, I've never had to add a scheme. Makes sense though.
So what populates the area dialogue box? Levels? I'm assuming I'll need to create an upper slab and lower slab scheme since I can't use the same level twice, correct?

Yep. BTW, this all assumes what you are doing SHOULD be done with areas. I didnt read that closely. Just realized what you were trying to do and answered with what is possible.

I got it working. And I'm assuming it should be done with areas since I can't just schedule the area of the slab because I create my brick ledges using slab edges. Unless there's something else I'm not thinking of? It sucks I have to outline a 13K sf slab but it is what it is. lol

    Thanks Aaron.

You might ought to look at how you're modelling the slab and slab edges to see if you can change it so that a schedule will report the correct area you're looking for. Do it once and then it'll be a WHOLE LOT faster in the future. Maybe a sketch or 3D screen shot would help us offer suggestions.

You can also create a new area plan based on a lower level (if available), and change your view range.
