Some masses cast shadows, some don't

We're trying to create a conceptual site plan. We're using simple masses to show schamatic architecture in the area.
The properties of all masses are set by deafult. Yet some of them cast shadows, and some other don't. I can't locate what's the difference between them and why is this happening. Below is our site (floor plan) view:

FI there are no shadows in 3d view:

All masses properties seems to be the same:

The mass on the right only displays shadow when clicked on...
There are no overrides in V/G, no individual overrides, no filters applied...
    Any thoughts?

Change the massing material to solid material.
