We have a domain logon script that maps drive letters for our active projects and archive projects, plus a "personal" folder for each domain user. But they are not used in Revit unless someone points to the mapped drive using the dropdown box at the top of the open/save dialog box. Which I never do, ever. And the 2 projects this happened on has not been worked on by anyone else in the office. I also have Places buttons on the left side that point to the UNC path of each server share. And likewise the reported Saved Path of every file in my Recent Files points to the UNC path for the project file.

Also checked journals, the only time the mapped drive letter shows up is when I opened a family directly from Windows Explorer by double-clicking. There is nothing project file-related in the journals that have the mapped drive letter associated with them.

So... I would REALLY look through the Journals and see if its using the Drive Letter.

It actually *doesnt matter* "how you navigate" to the file from within Revit, if- outside of revit- the Drive Letters get used. Its some weird ambiguous logic that might be "however you navigated to that share last, outside of Revit." And yes, im absolutely serious.

Ive seen it happen at firms where employees mapped drive letters themselves, even though they knew not to use them in Revit:

If i opened windows explorer and navigated to the share correctly through UNC, then closed the Explorer window, and opened a file in Revit through File>Open>UNC, it would work fine.

If i opened windows explorer and navigated to the share through the drive letter, then closed the Explorer window, and opened a file in Revit through File>Open>UNC, it would not work.

Its a bit hideous. But my guess is you arent properly in the local file, and you are- in fact- writing over the central file on Sync.

So it just happened again on the same project file this morning. It created a local file on my workstation as normal, and it's pointing to the central file on the server through the UNC path, as normal. I just checked the journal file for today and there are no mapped drive letter paths whatsoever.

The SWC process still works normally, and Show History doesn't show anything out of the ordinary.

And now it just happened on another file that it's never happened before with, and no one was in the file between when I saved it on Friday and opened it again this morning.
