    Interesting. Since all I need them to do is be a general suggestion that will be ignored anyway symbolic works for me. But I would be interested in what you're doing with the filters that makes it better.

    The biggest thing I see getting rid of masking and symbolic elements is, it eliminates almost 100% of the issues at the beginning of this post.

    Do you have an example how you're using filters to control graphics in cabs? - it isn't something I'd considered or explored.

    Not that Ive used masking regions in any family for years and years, but in this case, I believe Revit thinks that the chairs are higher than the table, since the extents of the whole chair (when including the back of it) is higher than the table.
    One could overcome this problem by putting an invisible model line in the table in elevation to go above the height of the back of the chairs; therefore Revit thinks the table is higher than the chairs, and hides them as expected.
