I work on parking garages and I have never needed to have a scale to go by.

Why not just add a bunch of grids at 4' increments if that would help you out? Just put them on a different workset so your consultants don't wonder why someone needs so many grids.

Sounds to me like you just want "Rulers" like in Photoshop or Bluebeam.

I actually sort of like how Bluebeams work, based on where your cursor is when you zoom. I dont think they are all that useful, but neat nonetheless.

Just don't be this guy... Someone on the Autodesk Revit Idea forum actually suggested an idea for Revit to know what the scale is all the time when zoomed in based on the pixels, zoom and resolution of the monitor. So they could be this guy...or gal I mean.

haha another guy suggested that we should be able to "Zoom extents to a 1:1 scale to better understand the fields conditions" so after hearing that i decided to throw my somewhat simplistic idea out there.

Turn on (Show) Workplane, change spacing to 4’, move it to an edge of the building or whatever works for you.

I’m curious what a “scale bar” means prior to a drawing being printed.

There are apps on IOS which have a floating scale bar that reacts to the zoom level. One example is Trace http://www.morpholioapps.com/trace/es/

that's exactly what i'm talking about. where the size of the scale bar adjusts as you zoom in. i will try the show work plane idea thanks!

I'm a 15 year Revit user and have never once felt the need for such a thing. If I need to know the size of something, I type MN (my measurement shortcut) and measure the object. Simple.
