    Weird shape donut

Hi. My designer made this form in rhino, and wants to input into our Revit model as a floor platform.
-Should I rebuild this in Revit? So that it can be categorised as floor element?
(Emmm...how to build this in Revit? Massing? Adaptive family?)
    Or
    - just leave it as a massing from rhino?
What's the best way to import such object into rhino?
    Thanks in advance.

Something that is unlikely to require further editing in Revit, or you have a workflow where it can continue to be edited in Rhino, we just now import into Revit from a *.3dm file as the appropriate Revit family.

This functionality has been around since Revit 2018, and you can directly import a .3dm file using Insert / Import CAD and selecting 'Rhino Files (*.3dm)' in the drop-down choice of file types. After opening that in the same dialog window at the bottom, you can choose to select which family to import as from the gamut of Revit family types.

It behaves in views with the appropriate Revit family view characteristics.

Note that this import will NOT be editable in Revit neither the geometry nor will you be able to open the family in family editor either. I don't believe you can re-assign the family type either, except at the import.

Apart from this simple workflow, there is tons or work being done on more complicated Rhino <--> Revit interoperabilty workflows that you can google and vary from free to custom / bespoke.

Thanks a lot for the reply.
I am just thinking how the structural engineer and qs going to extract the volume of this structure.

You can insert the .sat file into a new generic model family in revit and use that.
This will allow you to set the generic model category and filter it in views.
