I'm always amazed at the number of people in our office who never hit the SWC button when they leave for lunch.
Who cares how long it takes if you won't be back for an hour?

And, I'll promise you anyone who says "Sync once every two hours" forgets how long two hours is & often goes 3 of 4 hours without ever synching.

That wasn't the point of my post. The point was that I used to see the Sync reminder window pop up, now I don't. Something broke it, apparently, on my installation. I'm not seeing it at home, either. The 2 hour thing is really just a holdover form the old days when SWC took much longer. Now with all our users on SSD's, full gigabit connections throughout and modern Server 2012 R2 box, SWC takes only a couple of seconds usually.

So the question remains, why isn't the reminder box coming up? I'm changing my SWC reminder back to 30 minutes to see if it will come up.

Threads evolve. Always have. I get that it wasnt the point of your post, but since when has that stopped us from having commentary on things that we deem important for future readers? Been happening since forever.

Regarding the pop up notifications: I have ALWAYS found them to be the most erratic things in Revit. Ive seen them pop up minutes after opening a brand new local, ive seen them pop up immediately after a sync, and so on. Never bothered to look in to why. Never asked anyone at Autodesk about it, either.

Then again, i wore my seatbelt even when i had a car that didnt beep at me every ten seconds, too. I guess i just like to be proactive. But it is also possible it IS popping up, and you are inadvertently bypassing it. A lot of folks do it like second nature, these days. Maybe you should run camtasia for a full day, and see if it really doesnt pop up at all, lol. Or go check your journals to see if it popped up and you just forgot about it.

No sir, not bypassing it. I'm the one that harps on everyone to ALWAYS hit the button to save or SWC every time the dialog comes up. And yeah I've wondered why it would come up right after opening a file, but recently I've noticed that the SWC reminder NEVER comes up anymore. Local saves are near instant and SWC only a couple of seconds longer, so I never just dismiss the reminder dialog.

The sync and save warnings pop up at specific actions too, my observation. I’ll have to ponder a bit to see if I can think what those triggers are. Don’t seem related to reminder timing at all to me.

I always thought it was triggered by an action, such as starting a new model element, if enough time had passed since the last save action. It's never just popped up out of the blue.

What happens if you set your Local Save time to 5 minutes, and your SWC reminder to 10?
Just as a test, of course.
Although, sometimes just changing it gooses it enough to work when you set it back to normal. (Whatever the color of normal is in your world )

I went back in my Journals as far back as 4 February. Searched for text string "synchronize with central" (the first option in the reminder box), and none of the matches were part of a reminder box pop-up. So I haven't been getting the SWC reminder for at least a month now. I bet 2019.2 broke it.

the sync reminder will only show up after starting a command. Usually while selecting a bunch of items that requires you to be paying close attention.

I turned it off. I recommend everybody turn it off then be smart about saving your work. Also sync if you're going to be away from your desk longer than it takes to grab a cup of coffee.
