^this exactly. Don't even screw up a tab spacing or the whole thing falls apart. Notepad ++ helps.
Save a copy for testing purposes.

Yup, pretty sure, all I did was to just delete the 1 from "Visible" and replace it with a 0(zero). Parameter file corrupted.

Funnily enough, I also tried it with the other fields there and with those ones I do not get any error, but as well no visible change in the project (test project).

As soon as I change the value back to 1, it suddenly works again. Are you guys sure it works for you?

If the parameter already exists in a project, changing from 1 to 0 has no effect, ie. it'll still be visible.

I was testing shared and project parameters and I figured out that while making a shared parameter a project parameter will not override the type/instance properties of shared parameters in families, BUT it will override the group under property in families.

My Dynamo script always puts the shared parameter under the same group and as part of the training I'm doing I'm saying "Don't add project parameters, come to me and we'll talk about it." It seems like I'm going to have to add a lot of shared parameters as project parameters because it difficult to make sure every family in a category has the parameter for it to show up in filters.

Your red lines arent correct. The VISIBLE integer is the last one in the image, all the way on the right. Count the number of headings, and the number of tabs.

Because the GUID is so long, the tabs are way misaligned, when you read the Shared parameters in a text editor. If you pull them in to excep (as tab delimited) youll see how thew columns actually line up.

They first "1" in your file, is the column with the 40's, 50, and 60's in mine. Thats the Group Number. And Group Number has to correspond to a group up above. So when you make it zero, you are- in fact- making the file invalid.

The SECOND "1" column is the Visible column. Change those to zeroes, and it should work.

Having said that, i have never, and wont ever, use the hidden parameter feature. I think its... bad.

Common, you can't just say that and walk away. What is inherently bad about it?

Oh, nothing that's going to cause and issue and break stuff, or anything... I just don't believe in the practice of it. I think it's bad.

If it's a parameter thats doing something, even if the user doesn't have to interact with it, I want them to be able to see it. Otherwise, when they have questions about what it's doing, they're going to start hunting around for the "missing pieces."

Then... When they have ALSO learned they can HIDE DATA, I have another problem on my hands.

Hmm, yes inhad a bit of time on my hands today and I reached the same conclusions roughly 30 minutes before all of this got posted . quite funny
Returning to the topic, what I still do not understand is WHY b would someone want to hide a parameter without any values. If the parameter is set to be Invisible, then suddenly you can't edit it in the project anymore, rather you can just find it in a list as an empty, non-editable field.
