I get the dialog box to actually start the install. Once that finishes it is fine.

You mean the one asking for admin rights?
I've noticed that once in a while, but it's real inconsistent.
I start the batch file with "Run as admin", but maybe 1 out of 10 times, I get another UAC prompt asking (again) for admin rights.
Haven't figured out what triggers that or why it even pops up.

I dont even get a dialogue box to start. Double click the shortcut, and off it goes. Just progress bar. When its done, it just disappears.

    This one.

Although it just occurred to me that they were never unblocked. Checking that now. Who's bright idea was it to require something like that?!

    There's a /passive switch and a /quiet one.
Passive shows the progress bar & quiet is, umm, quiet.

I like the passive because I run these manually & do several at a time. with the progress bar, you can gauge time remaining

    Unblocking makes those go away.

okay - i spent the past couple of days trying to get to the bottom of what was going wrong with my deployments... and i think the issue all started with me listening to my IT team.

After scrapping everything they had told me about how to use PDQ Deploy, and doing my own independent research - I was able to put together PDQ Deploy packages that actually seem to work. I even cobbled together a powershell script that allows me to send Revit Updates out to everyone, but will only install the update on machines with the relevant version of Revit installed.

switching to "/passive" instead of "/qb" was also helpful as i was finding the "/qb" switch caused it to uninstall revit updates on machines that already had them installed

Bill Debevc (https://bimthoughts.com/about/) did a class at RTC 2016 covering PDQ Deploy. You might see if you can get the handouts for it.
