    Switch family type shortcut

    Hi,

I have an addin that I use for tagging all my fire alarm devices etc. and I have a question that I canīt seem to solve by myself.

My tag family has 4 different types depending of what side of the symbol that I want to see my label (the address). When I use my autotag addin it of course tags all symbols with a default tag, where the label is below the symbol. Thatīs fine in some cases but often I want to use another type of the tag family instead and thatīs where my question comes in. Is there anyway to switch between family types without using the "drop down" in properties. Preferably I would want a keyboard shortcut for this but I donīt think there is any? Itīs quite frustrating to first have to click the tag symbol and then go to the properties drop down everytime that I need to change family type. Would be so nice if there is any solution to this issue.

Don't know what add-in you're using but if you use the tag all tool you can select whatever tag type you want.

For tagging in this specific case I use an addin that we have created by ourself and that tag components differently depending of what view templates the view has. The problem is not really the tagging but the changing of family type afterward. Letīs say that I have a hundred similar objects in one view and then I tag the view, the addin will then tag all of these objects with a tag that is predefined for that specific view. But, then I have 4 different types of that tag family and the addin can obviously not know which type I want for each object. That I have to Change after tagging. So the question is more that I need a shortcut command for changing type of a tag family object in the view, A little bit like when you rotate an object by clicking it and then hit space bar.

So does your add-in also position the tag correctly depending on direction to the element being tagged? Or does it just locate it relative to the family origin?

If it's the former you could maybe use dynamo (or your own coding perhaps) to relate the tag position to the element and then adjust family type accordingly.
