Nice rooms, looks like the color scheme for hospitals is universal mine has the same green tone to it, and looks like we've used some common bimobject families like the soap and paper towel dispensers for example oh and that bed I have the same one but I put a different texture on the blanket (woven wool) and a green tint to suit the room coloring...but its the same bed family. I have a nicer (IMO) looking reclining chair if u want it although I got it right off bimobject anyhows...

True that bimobject can be a bit hit and miss. But I generally take any family I do actually use from there and PURGE a ton of parameters out of it and over ride materials with my own otherwise it really quickly pollutes the project.

Well I ended up finding an ambulance BUT its not very pretty in enscape, and its the American style boxy ambulance, not the Van style they tend to use in Europe but it works for the context of the image. We're doing VR with this model and so Im trying to get nice looking models as in the VR environment a bad model sticks out like a sore thumb.

None of the components I've shown are from BIMobject. They are 100% built by us, from absolute scratch. Nothing from BO at all.

    You said BO...

My new favorite is; BIM without the “I” is just BM.

so I'm an incompetent now? that's funny, You don't even know me and you just say that since you don't like my answer?, I was only trying to give some clues to where somebody can find some families quickly (each revit user must judge if that content is useful or not), otherwise I'll say the same thing that all people says here even me : you sholud create your own content!! that's what I do all time, I Create my own families and my team families, but in Revitcity I found some usable families!, it is true that there is a lot of ****** content too, but as in life if you look well you can find something you can use if you dont have the time to create by yourself.

By the way BIMobject is not better either!

Thats great if you have the time to build them all, ideally that would be the best approach. Im not actually in a modelling team (like a proper "production" team in an architecture firm for example) and my role includes training, consulting, demos, seminars etc etc but we've got entwined in this contract that requires us to dress up the rooms in VR and the architect rather than placing nicely modelled objects uses rectangular volumes. I have no idea what level of detail he was engaged to provide but for our pupose it is completely useless so we've had to create or find a lot of content. BO is a good option if you are time poor however often I find that, depending on the family required, it can be quicker to just build something from scratch, rather than trying to find a suitable family, and as I said in some cases I found families that I thought were suitable and then spent 15 minutes deleting about 150 useless parameters from it so it didnt overload my project with a bunch of useless materials. Removing parameters by hand is a pain its about 5 clicks per parameter.....so HELLO carpal tunnel

I (or someone else) have had to build a large portion of our components but some things we used propriety models done by the suppliers on BO as we're not really engaged to make these families we've simply had to for lack of content otherwise.

From BO or Revitcity I just only have my HVAC terminals, since I'm only interested to show that for info only, we dont do here the HVAC model, otherwise I modeled all my content mostly by using the families that you posted here as a learning path and frankly thanks to your content @Aaron I've learned a lot of familly creation

In this image for example I have a mix of made, reworked, and straight out of BO elements.

The cart top right is straight out of BO and not reworked, and its ugly. Chunky and doesnt look nice in VR really....nor in the render as you can see.
The cart next to it I took an existing family we had, not sure where it came from and I reworked it fairly significantly but its a fairly simple form so I could have just built this from scratch tbh.
The table, office chair, stool, computer and patient chairs are all out of BO but I reworked the materials in most of them with the exception of the computer elements.
The patient table I got from BO but reworked it to try and smooth out the edges as it had sharp 90 edges on it and I reworked the cushion as it was just a rectangle and looked very boxy. I reworked all the mats and textures, and added the paper layer on it to give it some extra detail.

Im not sure why people are so against using outsourcing for objects. Sure there are things to be aware of and you put a lot of faith in how the object was done.
When I get an object from BO I dont just dump it in a project, I open the family and check it. There have been a lot of objects I have downloaded then discarded because they were just horribly made. Sometimes they seem to have come from sketchup or inventor and the meshing is all messed up or over faceted and as mentioned just overloaded with parameters as BO seems to have some parameters that they absolutely demand be included in families and to me they are entirely pointless for my needs.

Of course ideally if I was in a production team with the resources and talent available to create families, I'd most likely demand it all be built in house and develop a library of solid reliable objects that we know are perfect for renders and have the database we need included. But if you dont have that....then what? You're left with trying to get objects from somewhere....there arent a lot of options, like BO is one, Revit city is another but revit city is way worse than BO in regards to quality.

I think he was referring to RevitCity as a demonstration of incompetence...
