Can't select property line when dimensioning

    Hi all,

Weird issue with dimensioning on model (I'm new to the model, and so it could be anything)...

I select the dimension ("Aligned") tool, go to select the property line, and it won't select it. I then tried a couple drafting lines and I couldn't select those either. But I can select grid lines and other various elements.

I can dimension from a grid line to the *end* point of a property line.

To be clear, this isn't an issue of non-parallel lines - I literally cannot select the dimension line as the first element of the dimension string.

Creating a new view doesn't help. Creating new property lines doesn't help. In other projects, it works fine.

Any ideas... it's got to be something really simple right?

    Thanks!

EDIT: It's allowing me to select orthogonal property lines, but not ones at an angle.

Active Workplane something other than the view's associated level?

Are they in a link? I was going to ask about being pinned but you should still be able to dimension to them even if pinned..

Steve, great thought, but not a workplane issue. Also same issue in every view. I even tried creating a new view.

Thanks Chad - there is a link, but I unlinked it.

I'm noticing all sorts of strange behavior as I try to select the property line (i.e. selecting "invisible" lines that aren't there). I should double-check the issue on another computer, but might have some file corruption issue?

We had an autocad link (survey) with a 0,0 that was crazy out there, but I've removed the link... maybe there's instances of the survey inserted in some view...

Any DWG links? Try removing them if so.

Yep, removed those... I forget if there's a way to find DWG's that have been inserted into the model?

Not through the front entrance with Revit, Ideate's Explorer works nicely and I'm sure there are Dynamo scripts that will let you in through the side door.

    Okay, thanks.

So, just randomly selecting a *grid* line with the dimension tool selected an invisible element 4,900 feet away... but I don't see anything at the end of the dimension line... it's just white space.

Initially I thought the issue might just be some setting I wasn't aware of, but it's obvious something strange is going on with the model, so I'll just have to start troubleshooting.

    Thanks for the help!

That tends to happen if you are super far away from the Relative (Internal) origin. Any chance someone started that model out in hyper space?

That sure sounds like the "element is really ff'ng far away graphics issue"... good luck. I recently tracked one issue down to two playground equipment blocks in an Acad civil file being referenced in.
