Well, being a glutton for punishment, I installed 2019 and am giving it a spin. I always install the new stuff, I can't help but hope that it's better than the last, even if the improvements are 'under the hood'. I want to believe, Scully.

So the pattern improvements are really a slight change to materials. No changes to patterns at all. Sigh. I'm always falling for the new girl, but she mostly turns out to be like the old girl.

And replying to my own post. Just crying in my beer.

I like the tabbed windows, drag one on to 2nd monitor works a treat - also a little drop down on far top right of each window offering a drop down selection of other windows currently open, or close that window - rather neat

Blimey! Enscape and Archvision content - and the space mouse - all work, so far, in Revit 2019

/but not Entourage Workshop plug-in - so bases reappear on Archvision placeholders.

Material browser seems snappier - maybe my imagination - but the little images of materials are definitely nicer.

/another thing - on my 4K monitor under Windows 10 with enlarged text set to 150%, the ribbon/panels along the top are no longer distorted by the text underneath - small thing but nice

I believe this long standing wishlist item was to allow two separate fill patterns to be used together on the same surface/ material, with unique colours. This is exactly what autodesk have done for as shown in the image and as described in that blog. Our ID teams are gonna love this.

You've always been able to copy paste the code between .pat files to create double (or more) filled patterns.

Dual monitor support, tabbed views, levels in 3D views and the hatching improvements are just superb additions. Autodesk listening to their customers. Long may it continue. 2019 might well be a game changer for the non-believers.

Not so! Now you get to apply twice as much archaic pattern coding as before!

Not sure if it's a game changer, knowing that other BIM packages like Archicad, VectorWorks, Allplan etc already have these features for over a decade. Nonetheless, competition is always good and it's great to see Autodesk is playing catch up.
