    Unhappy Detail Component grouping issues

    Hey all,

I am having issues with grouped 2D detail components in Revit 2017. I have generated several wall sections in a drafting view using only 2D detail components. I have made each individual wall section into a group. I then copy and paste the group to a live wall section view. Upon placing the group in the live cut, it looks perfect. As soon as the group is edited in the drafting view, random detail components will rotate 90 degrees in the group that is placed on the live cut. Even though the group is 100% fine in the drafting view, random elements appear rotated in the group on the live cut views (see images below for examples). Why would the group appear differently among views it is placed on? Again, the group is made of 2D detail components ONLY (no filled regions of drafting lines that would be affected by scale). Also, the same group will have different rotated elements from one live view to another... (I will also attach the images because they are so small below)

    Please help!!!

Bumping up this thread as I am having nearly the same problem in Revit 2018. I can have two instances of a detail group placed in the same view, but some components in one are rotated or mirrored. I have noticed the behavior with both regular detail components and line-based detail components. The Revit gurus in my 150 person office are mystified. Anyone have any ideas?

This happens in the same view or in different views? If different, are the views parallel to each other?

This happens in the same view. Creating new instances of the group always seems to create them correctly, while the seemingly corrupted instances remain with some rotated/mirrored members.

    Can you upload the group?

A Revit file is attached and the offending group is placed on Level 1 alongside the normal version. Thank you for taking a look!

Also - I have noticed that this issue seems to arise when switching one group to another via the properties panel dropdown list of all detail groups. Occasionally I also receive an error about mismatched group instances when doing this, and needing to either ungroup those instances or create unique groups from them.

In 2019 I can't get it to break. Perhaps it's an issue with 2018.

It happens if you nest a group inside a group.
